Indonesia is an archipelago widely known for its vast natural resources such as copper, gold and various other minerals. PT. Freeport Indonesia, a subsidiary of Freeport-McMoRan Inc., has a jetty facility in Papua Indonesia. The ore mined is shipped out to its mills in various parts of the world through this jetty.
Due to an increase in the load requirement to the jetty, the structures of the jetty needed to be strengthened. At the same time, the structures of the jetty required protection against the environmental impact from the sea.
FYFE Asia’s FRP Composite System was introduced and found to be suitable system to cater for both strengthening and protection of the key structural members of this jetty. The jetty was successfully upgraded and protected to meet its future usage.
