Rehabilitation of Large Diametre Steel Lined Penstock at Hydro Electric Facility

Rehabilitation of this large diameter penstock at the Xekaman-3 Hydro Power Station in Vietnam was a very challenging project in this remote region of Vietnam. Rehabilitation was required for this 3200m diameter steel-lined penstock to strengthen and line the pipe due to severe leaking and environmental degradation of structure.
FYFE Asia’s FRP Composite System was selected as an internal structural lining in order to rectify the problem and provide a durable corrosion resistant lining using its high strength and specialized durable epoxies combination.
The scope of works included the following:-
• Survey for exiting penstock conditions.
• Penstock rehabilitation recommendations and design.
• Internal surface preparation to existing surfaces.
• Internal installation of the FYFE Asia’s Composite System for pressure capacity and corrosion resistance.
