Upgrading and Rehabilitation of Movenpick Saigon with TYFO® Fibrwrap® Systems
Movenpick Saigon is 5-star luxury hotel housed within an old colonial building which was built more than 70 years ago. This building was built then as an army barrack for the American army in South Vietnam before the unification. After the opening of its doors to the world, this heritage building was subsequently converted for use as hotel. In 2009, it was taken over by the Swiss hotel group Movenpick and renamed as Movenpick Saigon.
In 2011, under a major upgrading of the hotel, the second floor of the building was converted from a common area to the hotel’s business center. As such, it was planned for strengthening to cater to the new loading requirement. The project management team then contacted Fyfe Asia to support on the strengthening solution using the Tyfo® Fibrwrap® System. The solution for strengthening to the existing reinforced concrete slab was well-received and approved. Tyfo® Fibrwrap® System was installed within a short time period to meet the project schedule.
