As part of its expansion plans to meet the growing expectation of the Thais, Tesco Lotus is constantly upgrading and expanding its chain of hypermarkets to stay relevant and maintain its position as the market leader in the retail industry. At one of its hypermarket located in the Surat Thani Province, home to the famous Koh Samui in the southern part of Thailand, the upgrading to this existing store was required to improve the facilities within the store.

With the upgrading, some of the existing pre-stressed beams were partially cut to cater to the new layout plan for the store. The cutting of the pres-stressed beams resulted in these continuous beams having deficiencies in their flexural capacities. The Tyfo® Fibrwrap® Systems was proposed due to its short installation time and was hassle-free compared to conventional methods like concrete jacketing.

The Tyfo® Fibrwrap® Systems using Tyfo® UC Carbon Laminates were successfully installed without any major disruption to the existing M&E set-up and was completed within the client’s required time-frame.
