Structural strengthening for Change of Usage at Lindeteves Trade Center with the TYFO^® Fibrwrap^® System

With an ambition to create SunCity – a state-of-the-art spa, fitness center, restaurant and hotel all under one-roof at Lindeteves Trade Center, The company PT. Citra Gemilang Nusantara of Indonesia bought over 5 out of the 11 storeys of this newly-constructed building at the heart of Chinatown in Jakarta Indonesia. The 5 floors of this building were originally designed to be used as carparks and retail stores. With the change of function and the increase in the imposed loadings, the reinforced concrete (RC) beams were in need of strengthening to cater for the new function.

Based on its long and excellent track record as a committed solution provider for structural strengthening, Fyfe Asia Pte Ltd (Singapore), together with its local Indonesian applicator were approached to work jointly with the project consultant to analyse the affected floors for structural deficiencies and propose a strengthening scheme using the Tyfo^® Fibrwrap^® Systems. This system which is light-weight and high-strength, yet also able to retain the aesthetics of the original structure, was readily accepted as the method to enhance the capacities if the existing RC beams.

Upon completion of strengthening, the beams were tested by a local accredited testing institution to verify its effectiveness. In accordance to requirements under the service limit state, the strengthened beams successful satisfied all requirements. The technical team of Fyfe Asia Pte Ltd and its applicator gained satisfaction and confidence of the client for their professional advice and support.
