Khoo Teck Puat Hospital is the first hospital to win the Building Construction Authority’s (BCA’s) Gold Award. Located in Yishun, the 550-beded hospital is named after the late hotelier Khoo Teck Puat in acknowledgement of the significant donation made by his estate towards the building and funding of the hospital. This new general and healthcare public hospital provides extensive range of medical services and specialist care to resident living in the Northern sector of Singapore.
Slab soffit and wall at certain locations of the hospital were proposed to be enhanced for anti-spalling concrete due to dynamic loading. The initial proposal of the enhancement was to use Mild Steel Plate. However, TYFO® Fibrwrap® Composite System and TYFO® Fibr-Anchors was proposed at a later stage and was preferred in this project for its speed and ease of installation. The wrapping to the entire slab soffit and wall of the specified locations was completed within 3 months.
