Tanjong Pagar MRT Station (EW15) is an underground Mass Rapid Transit station on the East West Line in Singapore. It was opened on 12 December 1987. The station caters to people working in the Shenton Way and Robinson Road area. In 2005, SMRT announced its plans to build a mini shopping arcade (known as an Xchange) in the station, similar to those at Raffles Place and Dobby Ghaut stations. It is to be the largest among the Xchanges. For the increased loading and also for fire protection, the contractor approached FYFE Asia to discuss about the strengthening of the MRT station’s RC slab and walls.

Due to its non-intrusive nature and far cleaner application process, the TYFO® Fibrwrap® System has been the system of choice in Singapore projects that require structural strengthening. FYFE Asia Pte Ltd proposed the TYFO® Fibrwrap® Composite System and it was chosen to enhance the load carrying capacity and ductility of the existing slabs and walls of the Tanjong Pagar MRT Station. In this project, TYFO® SCH 7UP & TYFO® S Epoxy were applied for the strengthening and FYFE Asia chose TYFO® VG and TYFO® EI-R especially for fire protection.

This project was one of the latest strengthening and fire protection projects done by FYFE Asia Pte Ltd. The contract for this entire project called for its completion within a short period of half a month. The strengthening works were carried out within the allotted time frame and FYFE Asia.
