The 2nd floor of the PRGM building located at Jalan Cheras, near the city center of Kuala Lumpur was rented out to a Medical Center.
It was on the basis that the MRI machine can be installed onto the 2nd floor of the building that the Medical Center had taken up tenancy for the said floor of the building. The MRI machine weighs approx. 16 tons and as such the floor beams would require strengthening to cater for this change in load carrying capacity which was originally meant for lighter office loads.
TYFO® SCH and UC laminate System was installed onto the floor beams to cater for this additional load. Fibrwrap Construction Malaysia’s work scope also includes the installation of temporary props for the slabs at the various floors before the MRI machine could be moved to its final position. Monitoring the behavior of the strengthened beam for deflection was carried out before and after the load was applied onto the beam. The deflection reading for the beams were found to be within the allowable limits exceeding the expectation of our proposed system.
The work was well planned and executed such that there were no complaints from the building owner and the client.
