Structural Strengthening Works at Bank Building with TYFO^® Fibrwrap^® System

This 6-storey building is located at Bukit Damansara, Kuala Lumpur. It serves as a corporate office for a local bank.

New IT equipment was to be placed onto the 4th floor of the building requiring the post-tension floor slab to be strengthened to meet the new loading requirement.

Fibrwrap Construction (M) Sdn Bhd was engaged by the client to carry out the strengthening works using TYFO^® Fibrwrap^® System to the slab on a design and install basis. Fibrwrap Construction work scope included all necessary protection to the carpeted floor, removal and reinstatement of all air-con mechanical ventilation ducts, false ceiling, diversion of electrical lighting etc.

The structure was analyzed and designed based on the strengthening requirement provided by the consulting engineer. TYFO^® 4UC55 Carbon Laminate Strips were used to strengthen the slabs. The strips were applied at the bottom of the slabs along the middle strips and the column strips to enhance it flexural capacity.

The strengthening works were successfully completed on schedule with the minimal or no disturbance to the office activities on other office areas occupying the same floor of the building.
