The West Coast Plaza, is a neighbourhood shopping centre located at the West Coast of Singapore. Formerly called Ginza Plaza, it was built in 1993 and closed in March 2007 for a major S$26 million upgrading works. By November 2008, upgrading works has been completed and it was renamed the West Coast Plaza.
In this upgrading project, strengthening work with TYFO® Fibrwrap® System was also included. This strengthening work to beams was needed to cater for an increase in load carrying capacity. The Tyfo® Fibrwrap® System was proposed because it has short installation time and is non-intrusive compared to conventional methods.
The Tyfo® Fibrwrap® Systems using Tyfo® SEH51-A and Tyfo® SCH-41 with Tyfo® S epoxy were successfully installed to total 90 beams without any major disruption to the existing upgrading work and was completed within the client’s required time-frame.
