Strengthening to Beams and Slabs at Jurong Point Shopping Centre using TYFO^® Fibrwrap^® System

Jurong Point Shopping Centre, a major shopping mall at the western part of Singapore was opened in 1995. It has a wide selection of shops and services which comprises of over 200 shops selling various things of interests.

Being a very crowded and busy shopping mall after over 10 years of lifespan, Jurong Point Shopping Centre needs to be upgraded to keep up with time. After a careful review by the consultants, the TYFO^® Fibrwrap^® Composite System was chosen as the simple yet effective strengthening approach to fulfill the enhancement required by the structure, such as a light-weight and high-strength system with no change to the aesthetics of the existing structure. Strengthening works to beams and slabs of the shopping mall’s basement to cater for the various changes brought about by the upgrading works commenced in 2007.

The TYFO^® SEH 51A with TYFO^® S Epoxy was successfully installed to two levels of basements within the stipulated time-frame of the project to the satisfaction of all concerned parties.
