Corrosion Monitoring for Kai Tak Cruise Terminal Quay Deck Structure

This quay deck structure was constructed along the Old Kai Tak Airport runway as a part of the Cruise Terminal development. The quay deck is a reinforced concrete structure at seaside and is prone to corrosion. A corrosion monitoring system was required to monitor the corrosion status of reinforcement and to provide early warning signals against the ingress of corrosive substances.

The scope of works included the following:-

• Detailed design and preparation of detailed workshop drawings for the corrosion monitoring works

• Supply and installation of corrosion monitoring sensors and equipment, including, reference electrodes, multi-depth sensors and monitoring devices

• Testing and commissioning of corrosion monitoring system
